Sweet Support: Matching Gift Makes Every Bite Count!
June 30, 2025
The community indulged in sweet
treats for a great cause at a special King’s Day Bake Sale Fundraiser by Bitty Birds Bakery in support of the new Dundas
Manor Long-Term Care Home, held on April 26th at Loughlin’s Country Store in Hallville.
In a generous show of community spirit, Stephanie Redmond, owner
of Loughlin’s Country Store, pledged
to match all proceeds from the bake sale dollar-for-dollar. This matching gift doubled the impact of every cookie, cupcake, and
pie purchased, helping to bring comfort and care to future residents of the new
facility.
Bitty Birds Bakery is a gluten-
and nut-free bakery located just outside of Iroquois. Owned by Ashley Miedema, this is her second annual
fundraising event for Dundas Manor.
“I’m so grateful
for the warm welcome the community has giving me,” said Miedema. “I’m
more than happy to do my part to give back, as a way to thank the community.
“When Bitty
Birds approached us to partner
with them for a location
to fundraise, we didn’t hesitate, knowing how important the new home is to this community,” said Redmond. “Every
treat sold brings us one step closer to making the
new long-term care home a reality.”
The bake sale proceeds
netted almost $300,
which was generously matched by Loughlin’s. In addition,
$253 was received in donations, resulting
in a total of $844.75
raised!
All proceeds will go directly toward
the construction and furnishing of the new home, which aims to provide high-quality, person-centered
care for seniors in the community.
They came for the sweets and supported the cause – helping to build a better future
for our seniors.
