A career as a Personal Support Worker
Personal
support workers (PSWs) play a vital role at Dundas Manor in helping to residents with care and
comfort. Ontario’s colleges prepare students for these careers with a
combination of skills training, lab work, and clinical placements. Full-time accelerated and standard
programs can be completed in anywhere from six months to one year and part-time
programs in up to two years. That means there are many ways to learn and train
at a pace that works for you.
To support
the demand for trained professionals in this rewarding field, a new, accelerated
PSW training program was recently introduced at all 24 public colleges. This
new accelerated program comes with:
- A condensed schedule that allows students to graduate with a full PSW credential in six months.
- Opportunities early in the program to get hands-on experience.
- A paid work placement in the final three months of the program.
